Getting Involved and Spreading the Word
There are many opportunities for your PTA to help out and make a difference right here in the Northshore Community. From holding a food drive to benefit the Northshore Community Kitchen to organizing a clothing swap and donating the remaining items to the District's Threads and Treads free clothing bank to highlighting social service agencies in your PTA's newsletter and so much more.
Click here for more information on the Northshore Community Kitchen or visit the Social Services tab to learn about a variety of agencies that can benefit members of your community.
Contact Sue Freeman (Northshore Community Kitchen Coordinator & Council Social Services Chair) with questions or to find out more about how you can get involved.
A huge thank you to everyone in Northshore who went down to Olympia on Focus Day on February 4th! We started the day at an orientation, then headed off to the Capitol building for a rally under the rotunda to hear perspectives from state legislators regarding education funding in Washington State. Throughout the day, we met in person with our various legislators and were able to deliver Take 5 postcards from PTA members who were unable to go to Olympia on Focus Day but wanted to make sure their voices were heard.
Start planning ahead for next year's Focus Day: In 2015, Focus Day will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The kids will be out of school so plan to bring the family. Numbers speak volumes so let's make a big showing next year and leave a lasting impression with our legislators!

Did you know... That how much you charge for PTA/PTSA membership dues needs to be listed in your Standing Rules? If your local unit is considering raising membership dues for next year, you must have your general membership vote on the new fees at a general meeting AND also vote to add those new fees to the standing rules. Below is the current minimum amount your PTA can charge for dues:
$5.75 WA State PTA Dues
$2.25 National PTA Dues
$1.50 Northshore Council PTSA Dues
Way to go to the following three PTAs for having a 10% increase in their membership over last year's numbers:
Frank Love PTA 6.10.27
Woodin PTA 6.10.50
Leota Jr. High PTA 6.10.
Remember, Membership is a year-round effort. Check out the WSPTA Membership page for great ideas or email me and I will get you inspired! Keep it up and go Membership!

Each year at the State PTA Convention, WSPTA raffles off gift baskets with proceeds going to scholarships for graduates from Washington State public high schools beginning their freshman year of post-secondary education. Each year Northshore Council PTSA provides a basket to be raffled and we need your PTA's
help to fill that basket! The theme of Council's basket is "Washington Pride."
Please consider donating an item/gift certificate from a Washington State-based business.
A sampling of businesses include, but are not limited to :
Amazon, Starbucks, Nordstrom, Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Glassybaby, Bartell Drugs, Jones Soda, Dick's Drive-In, Ivar's, Sur La Table, Theo Chocolate, Tommy Bahama, Tully's and many more!
If your PTA would like to make a cash donation instead, we will use it to purchase items for the basket.
