District Discussions with Sen. Oemig:
Town Hall with the 45th Legislative Delegation
Sen. Eric Oemig, Rep. Larry Springer and Roger Goodman will host a Town Hall to talk about issues affecting the 45th district. They welcome comments and questions from constituents.

Basic Education Funding
In 1977, Washingtonians were watching Lavern & Shirley and paying thousands of dollars for computers that today’s $100 cell phone can out perform. Also in 1977 – 30 years ago – the state took a comprehensive look at the way we finance our K-12 education system. We haven’t done it since. Join Senate staff and Sen. Oemig in a discussion on how to update our funding structures.

Legislative Session Summary 2008
The 2008 60‐day legislative session concluded with policy improvements and additional funding for K‐12 education. Almost $135 million was added to the 2007‐2009 K‐12 budget, including $56.8 in teacher compensation and $17.9
million in student learning opportunities for those who are not on track to meet
requirements. Policy issues included providing a deadline for the Basic Education Finance Task Force, continued work on improving mathematics standards, and support for quality teaching. PTA's voice was heard as members

PTA Announcement of the 2008 Northshore Council PTSA Scholarship Winners
Bothell High School: Molly Kutsick, attending Western Washington University
Inglemoor High School: Alyssa London, attending Stanford University
Secondary Academy for Success: Ryan Hogan, higher education school to be determined
The scholarship recipients will be recognized at our May 19 general membership meeting. The students and their families were contacted by phone on April 15 as to their being awarded the scholarships.
In regard to Woodinville High School, unfortunately no applications were submitted by WHS seniors.

Platinum Level Award For Membership
Northshore Council PTSA is proud to announce that three PTA's have attained the Platinum Level Award for membership. By March 20, 2008 the three PTA's increased their membership by 20% over the last year's membership. They will be recognized at the May 19 Northshore Council PTSA general membership meeting. Congratulations!

The Gold Level award is given to all local units who by January 25, 2008, increased their membership by 10% over last year's membership.
The certificates will be presented by the area vice presidents to the local units at the Monday, March 24 general membership meeting as part of the inspiration at the beginning of the meeting.

100% Membership Award
Northshore Council PTSA 6.10 has attained the 100% Membership Award for membership equal or exceeding our school enrollment by March 1, 2008. This award is given to all council who have 100% active participation--all units in the council are paid and "in good standing" for 2007-2008 by March 1, 2008.
