Washington  State PTA Convention Highlights -- 2007

  • The 94th annual Washington State PTA Convention was held at the Sea-Tac Double Tree Inn May 4-6, 2007.  The theme was: Discovering Endless Possibilities.
  • The following PTA/PTSA’s from Northshore PTSA Council attended the Convention: Bothell High School PTSA, Woodinville High School PTSA, Arrowhead PTA, Cottage Lake PTA, Eastridge PTA, Lockwood PTA, Maywood Hills Elementary, and Shelton View PTA.  Other local units may have attended, but we are not aware of it at this time.
  • Arrowhead PTA had the most members in attendance at the Convention, a total of seven.
  • Six Northshore PTSA Council Board of Directors attended Convention: Sue Freeman, Debbie Hough, Terri Kelson, Dawn McCravey, Sudene Snyder, and Justine Stromberg.
  • The 2007-2008 Washington State PTA officers were elected. The newly elected President is Laura Bay.
  • Washington State PTA Resolutions were amended and retired.  The Washington State PTA Bylaws were amended and one major change was that Outstanding Local Unit to National PTA Convention one time a year fee increased from $2.00 to $5.00.  The last change to this amount happened about 15 years ago.  Please adjust your local unit budgets to reflect this change.
  • The Financial Grant Program baskets took in $5,315.00. Northshore PTSA Council contributed a large “Family Fun” basket. Thank you Dawn Simmons for organizing the basket and delivering it to the Convention.
  • Guest speakers included: National PTA President-Elect Jan Harp Domene, Governor Christine Gregoire, State Attorney Rob McKenna, Linda Young, Ph. D., Arnold Shapiro.
