Council Emergency Preparedness Chair Job Description
* Work in partnership with the district emergency preparedness coordinator, currently the risk manager.
* If members are interested, facilitate meetings of PTA Emergency Preparedness Chairpersons from each school. These meetings can provide information, problem-solving and brainstorming sessions which support disaster preparedness throughout the district.
* Provide information about supplies, storage, purchasing, meeting schedules, and response procedures to PTA via the email list networking group.
+ Current network members can be asked for contact information on their replacement for the next year.
+ Local unit PTA presidents can be contacted for emergency chair contact information at the beginning of the school year.
+ Ask permission of each person to them to networking email list.
* Facilitate purchasing partnerships between schools for needed supplies.
* Disseminate PTA purchasing procedures to network members.
* Advocate for emergency preparedness at the PTA council, with the district, with administrators, and with local unit PTAs.
* Provide updates and inspire support for emergency/disaster preparedness in our district to PTA presidents and PTA council in meeting reports and the council newsletter.
* Gather dates/schedules for CERT classes from local fire educators.
* Provide CERT class information to network members and to district staff development to be disseminated throughout the district for all staff members and parents.
